General Information

THE MOST EXPERIENCED The ?Fullers? name has been synonymous with the Bay of Islands for over 125 years. We trace our history back to the Ernest Albert Fuller who first began offering cruises through the sheltered inner islands of the Bay in 1886. Today, as Northland's leading tourism operator, we continue the tradition of fine service on board the most modern fleet of vessels and coaches. Let our friendly staff introduce you to the scenic wonders, history, culture and legends of the Bay of Islands and the Northland region. CARING FOR OUR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT Northland was the first region in New Zealand to develop a sustainable tourism charter and Fullers GreatSights was a founding signatory to that charter. Today we operate our business in accordance with the principles of this charter and are proud to have been awarded the Qualmark Enviro-Gold Award, in recognition of our high standards in environmental practices. QUALITY Fullers GreatSights Bay of Islands is New Zealand's premier sightseeing excursion operator. We hold Tourism's Official Quality Endorsement ? Visitor Activity and were recently award the title of ?Operator of the Year? 2010 & 2003 by the Inbound Tour Operator Council and Grand Pacific Tours ?Supplier of the Year? award 2009-10. We are also previous winners of the prestigious "Supreme Award" and the "Distinction Award" at the New Zealand Tourism Awards. FOREIGN LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE Maps and information are available in a number of languages for non-English speaking passengers. THE HISTORY OF FULLERS In 1886, Albert Ernest Fuller launched the ?Undine? sailing vessel in the Bay of Islands to deliver coal supplies to the islands within the Bay. With the fitting of a motor in the early 1900s, Fuller was able to deliver the coal and essential supplies to communities as far out as Cape Brett. In 1927 Fuller acquired the ?Cream Trip? from Edmund Lane ? with the facilities on board to transport cream from the islands, and by the 1960s, the well known ?Bay Belle' started this run.
