Butterfly & Orchid Garden

The Butterfly and Orchid Garden in Thames is New Zealand's first tropical butterfly and orchid house. We show butterflies from all over the world.

The butterfly house is fully sheltered, heated, ideal for sunny and rainy days, wheel chair friendly, with a good selection of ice creams, hot and cold drinks and souvenirs.

There is always a good range of exotic plants in flower. The butterfly house is also the home for finches. Our birds provide natural pest control and keep the butterfly house clean from grubs. 

OPEN 7 DAYS : Opening hours : : 9.30 am until 4.30pm (opening hours may vary throughout the year)

Winter break. CLOSED June, July and August.
