The award winning Kauri Museum tells the story of our pioneering settlers through the lens of the Kauri Industry. The museum specializes in the legacy of our Kauri Forests; specifically the strong durable timber and the highly prized Kauri Gum.

The Kauri Museum caters for people with a disability.
There is ample car parking including two accessible car parks close to both the new and old entrance. Access into the main entrance and museum is through automatic opening doors whilst entry into the Kauri Museum Souvenir Shop is via a standard opening door which is level and allows access for wheelchair users.
The majority of the museum is again accessible with great level access throughout and plenty of space to manouvre if you use a wheelchair. A lift is available within the Volunteers Hall to take visitors to the mezzanine floor and also the second storey of the Boarding House.
The museum provides two unisex accessible toilets, one near the reception area and the other about a third of the way through the museum.
Access into the Kauri Museum Souvenir Shop is either via stairs with handrails or if you use a wheelchair back out the automatic doors and round to the shop entrance which is again accessible.
This is a large museum with plenty to look at. A wheelchair is provided if you find it difficult to walk any distance so you don't miss out on any of the great experiences on offer.
